It’s been a ridiculously long time coming and honestly a lot of blood, sweat, midnight frozen magheritas and perhaps one lonely tear (of joy). We’re pleased to announce that the ATC Store is now open!
We met with ATC back in 2006 to work on their logo and subsequent marketing collateral (more on that later). Then in early 2007, in collaboration with Wes @ CONFID3NTIAL, Jimmy DiResta and the ATC crew, we began work on the store interior design, instore and window graphics.
The concept behind ATC (and also their acronym) is Air Traffic Control. As a sneaker consignment store they are essentially “trafficking” limited edition goods from all over the world. Taking inspiration from airport graphics and terminology the aim was to convey this through all marketing collateral and subsequently the store interior.
“The focus piece of the store is by far the conveyor belt which actually works! The payment counter was inspired by the check in desks at a commercial airport. The seats are actual airport seating units from Spanish designers Imat. The red was chosen to give an otherwise 2 color environment a little pop. We wanted to keep the interior color bold but neutral if that makes any sense, because of all the color variations in the actual sneakers. We just wanted it to be as easy on the eyeballs as possible yet still slick and engaging.”

If you are in the Miami area, it’s definitely worth checking it out. We’re planning a trip down there soon for the official launch. In the meantime check out the pictures of the final interior and let us know what you think..
